Learning & Teaching

At Corpus Christi we believe there are three essentials for every learning environment.

1) Connection

Connection with Students

Safety and Respect First – Every student feels seen, valued, and supported.
Warm Welcomes – Greet students by name, with open doors and open hearts from 8:30 am.
Right Level of Challenge – Learning meets students where they are, stretching them through achievable success.
Strong Friendships – Every child belongs, connects, and contributes to their peer community.
Relationships First – Consistent, caring interactions build the trust needed for honest feedback and growth.

Connection with Families

Welcoming Partnerships – Families are informed and involved. Teachers actively create opportunities to connect and share student learning, both in person and through Compass.

Connection with Colleagues

Positive Culture – Staff speak with pride about our school and the work we do together.
Active Involvement – Everyone contributes to our shared success and sense of community.
Celebrate Diversity – We honour and embrace the cultures, stories, and strengths within our community.
Collaboration Matters – We share ideas openly and work as one team.
Wellbeing for All – Connection thrives when we make time to support colleagues and care for ourselves.

2. Context
Belief in Every Learner

Hold High Expectations – We believe in every student’s capacity to succeed and provide the support they need to achieve it.
Celebrate Effort – Recognise persistence, improvement, and progress — not just perfection.
Foster Positive Behaviour – Encourage respect, responsibility, and care for others through calm, consistent responses.

Engaging Every Learner

Data-driven – Staff use relevant data to identify next steps in learning.
Give Purposeful Feedback – All feedback is linkd to the learning intention so students know what to do next.
Quick, Calm Responses – Students respond positively to clear directions because expectations are known and reinforced with consistency.

Creating a Culture of Excellence

Model Excellence – Pride in handwriting, organisation, and presentation is expected.
Resource Effectively – Student have the tools and materials they need to learn well.
Showcase Learning – Classrooms are maintain and organised, celebrating student work and progress.
Our Values – Respect, courtesy, honesty, enthusiasm and resilience.

3. Consistency

Smooth start to learning – Consistent whole school – “All set” (T) “You bet” (S)
Be ready to learn and teach – students arrive on time and prepared.
Establish consistent routines – clear classroom practices help everyone feel safe and know what to expect.
Teach behaviour explicitly – Full participation tactics are used to guide language and actions.
Support positive choices – Essential skills are embedded and positive reinforcement strategies are used.
Every minute matters – Timetables maximise learning opportunities.
Clarity from the start – The what, how, and why is shared before the lesson begins.
Timely and practical – Immediate feedback (over-the-shoulder, whole-class, or small-group) is given so students can act on it straight away.
Always linked to learning – feedback relates directly to the learning intention and success criteria.
